A: In 1951, Wartburg had a record of 8 wins, 0 losses, and 1 tie. There were no high school playoffs back then.

A: The 1952 - 1952 team had a record of 19 wins, and 2 losses.
Q: What Wartburg football coach eventually became head coach in the NFL?
A: Homer Rice coached Wartburg in 1951 - 1952. He evetually became an assistant coach at The University of Oklahoma under Bud Wilkinson, became head coach at Rice University, head coach at The University of Cincinnati, Athletic Director at The University of North Carolina, head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, Athletic Director at Georgia Tech.
Q: Who is the only Wartburg football player to get a football scholarship at The University of Tennessee?
A: Bob Zumstein in 1951. He later went to UT medical school and became an MD.
Q: What Wartburg football coach played on the Tennessee 1951 national championship team?
A: John "Tex" Davis. He coached football and basketball at Wartburg for 9 years. Before going to UT he played at Parris Junior College in Texas with Raymond Berry (who later bacame an outstanding receiver for Johnny Unitas and the Baltimore Colts). Davis used to joke about UT recruiting him over Raymond Berry.
