Bob Zumstein:
- 1951 National Championship team at Tennessee
Wore #83 for the Tennessee Vols and won a National Championship in 1951. Dr. Zumstein was born on May 28, 1933 in Wartburg, Tennessee and was a graduate of Wartburg's Central High School, he attended The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, on a football scholarship. He completed his medical degree in 1958 at The University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Memphis, where he was a member of Phi Chi Fraternity. Following an internship at John Gaston Hospital in Memphis, he established a private practice in Ariton, Alabama; he served Ariton and the surrounding community for 43 years. Ariton High School Purple Cats’ football team plays at Robert F. Zumstein Stadium. It is named after Dr. Zumstein for his decades of serving as the Purple Cats’ physician. In addition to his affiliation with Dale Medical Center, he enjoyed tennis and avidly supported The University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Ariton Purple Cats in all their athletic endeavors. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Ozark, Alabama.

Jack Moore:
In high school, he played Defensive Line, Punter, Kicker, Linebacker, and Offensive Line at Wartburg Central High School. He averaged 19 tackles per game and had multiple seasons with 20 or more sacks. He was highly regarded as one of the best football recruits in the state of Tennessee. After signing with MTSU, he red-shirted his freshman year and then started for the next four years at Nose Guard. During his time at MTSU, he played against teams like Nebraska, Hawaii, Texas A&M, Tulsa, and Oklahoma, and he also won the Ohio Valley Conference championship. He was slated to attend an NFL combine but decided instead to pursue boxing and had the opportunity to train with the WBO heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison. After his playing career, he coached for three years at Wartburg Middle School, leading the team to the East Tennessee championship twice. He continued his coaching career at Webb School for 24 years, during which time he competed in the state championship 8 times and won 6 state championships.
