Renaissance - History

The Central High School Renaissance Program was established:

The Renaissance Program provides Gold, Silver, and Bronze cards to students who are performing with excellence in the classroom both academically and with good character. Those cards give students free access to home athletic events and other benefits.

Through the years the Renaissance Program has proven itself as a source of consistent support for the students at Central High School and the teachers fortunate enough to be on staff here.

 

Criteria

To determine eligibility for a card, grades are checked after each semester. Grade point average (GPA) will be used in the following manner.

Gold Card: All A's - 4.0 GPA
Silver Card: 3 A's and 1 B - 3.75 - 3.99 GPA
Bronze Card: 2 A's and 2 B's or 3 A's and 1 C - 3.5 - 3.69 GPA

Students must be enrolled full-time to earn a card.

The Renaissance Program is voluntary. Students who wish to participate MUST sign up and verify which card they have earned before the deadline set each semester.

Discipline Standards

Your Card will be denied for the following:

  • Any out-of-school suspension.
  • After the second in-school suspension, after-school detention.

Attendance Standards
 

Attendance Requirement for all Cardholders:

Students may not have more than 1 unexcused absence in any block. (If you have questions, please contact Mr. Davis.)

 

Example:  You may have 1 unexcused absence in 1st block, 2nd block, 3rd block, and 4th block. 

 

But you may not have 2 unexcused absences in 1st block or any other block. 

 

Your Card will be denied for the following:

  1. Violation of Morgan County Schools attendance policy.
Benefits
Students who earn a Renaissance card have the following benefits:

All Card Holders:

  • Prize Drawings
  • T-shirt
Gold Card Benefits
  • Free admission to ALL CHS activities and home athletic contests.
Silver Card Benefits
  • Free admission to five (5) CHS activities or athletic contests. 
Bronze Card Benefits
  • Free admission to three (3) CHS activities or athletic contests.

 

New Benefits: 

Any student earning a Gold Card in the Spring and Fall of 2023/2024 will have ALL of their school fees/dues waived. These include the following:

  • Prom Tickets
  • Senior Dues/Graduation Fees
  • College Visits/Field Trips

Central High is fortunate to have the active support of many parents, alumni, business and community leaders throughout the area. Their interest in the various programs and curriculum areas in the school has brought about a true "renaissance" at Central. It is because of their continued support that our quest for excellence is possible.
